Index to St. Mary's Cemetery - Portland Oregon

The following are all children of Clement and Mary Ann Wetle. I do not currently have death or burial information about Clement and Mary Ann.

St. Mary’s Cemetery was located on SE Stark between 24th and 26th. Burials were from 1858-1929. This location was on the east side of the Willamette River and it was difficult for the families on the west side to reach the cemetery. The cemetery filled, became rundown, and was eventually surrounded by homes and businesses.

The Cemetery was closed and the remains were transferred to other cemeteries.

Many reinterrments were at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, the newer Catholic Cemetery, which was located in the hills west of Portland and the river. Mt Calvery has a special section for the burials that were transferred from St Mary's.

Mt Calvary does not have record of any Wetle burials so I am continuing my search to locate the where these children of Clement and Mary were reinterred.
